Today I printed this girlie, and while I'm still ambivalent about the results (I'll share the reel next week!), the process was lovely! 🖤

But wow printing intaglio is no joke and I always somehow forget how to do it after a while! 🌿

I also think I may have overvarnished her! Anyway I will play more with collagraph next week! I'm now carrying on with my multiblock wood engraving I showed you a couple of days ago! 👀

I'm planning on doing a shop update next week with everything I manage to make, including the lovely print on lokta papers I shared the week before! 🙌🏻🌸

But she brightened my week especially when it comes to my making! I finally feel more playful and excited to be in the studio!

You probably know by now that my creative juices were very dry following a massive project I did for masters! 👀

It's a bit scary sharing a new technique while I'm actually testing it haha, I don't even really know if I'll have a usable plate at the end of this, but I do have the artistic audacity on my side! 😅

Today I started playing around with collagraphs for the first time! 🌿

I thought I'd start a new series where I take you along my printy experiments in an effort to find my groove again! 🖤

Finished a little wood engraving today! 🖤

While I'm still so slow at making new work, and still finding my rhythm again, I do think I like what I'm making! 🌿

I definitely feel an itch to experiment and keep improving my technique, so for this one I'm planning it as a multiblock, but combined with lino! We'll see what happens! 😅

I feel pulled in many directions with my work and ironically I feel like it can stifle my making! So I keep reminding myself that I need to be in the experiment stage for a while! 🌷

It's been so nice to have the sun in my studio though and I hope the good vibes help me build momentum with my work!

I love going into the gallery and admiring all the printmakers' works! 🖤

This was me stamping lots of cards to restock, and I've also framed my prints for the next show! 👀

I really had a tough week creatively what with being ill, but small moments like these in the studio keep me grateful for the smallest jobs I get to do on the daily as an artist! 🌿

Since I decided I wanted to do this for university, I have been widly stubborn about working in the arts, and making this my career, as I think anyone in the industry has to be! 😅

And while it's been a crazy amount of work I'm proud of persevering!

My plan has been to get the basics out there as quickly as possible, and so far I have covered the different lino blocks you can choose, brayers, and carving tools! 🌿

I also want to write about paper and printing presses next, so please always ask me any questions! 👀

I think perhaps after these initial tool related blogs, I might have more freedom to talk more about processes too! 🌸

I just really wanted to create this resource so you can have a clear overview of the process and all it's elements if you are on your own printmaking journey, and an idea of which materials to consider! 🙌🏻
